Ms .45 (1981)
AKA: Angel of Vengeance
Directed by: Abel Ferrara
Starring: Zoe Tamerlis Lund (Thana), Albert Sinkys (Boss), Editta Sherman (Neighbour lady), Abel Ferrara (1st Rapist)
Genres: Rape-Women, Revenge, Mass Killings
Plot – Spoilers:
A mute woman Thana works as a seamstress at an NY fashion house. While returning home from work, she’s grabbed and raped in an alleyway. Her day gets worse when on returning home, a thief who’s just broken into her place rapes her again.
It’s unclear whether Thana went mute as a result of childhood trauma. But the tragic look she earlier wore to work is soon replaced with one of vengeance, as she goes around town wreaking havoc on any man she deems worthy. There’s also the disposal of a body that needs taking care of, while avoiding a nosy neighbor lady and her annoying dog.
The first mysterious rapist doesn’t appear to have any significant relation to the plot as it was played by director Abel Ferrara.
I suggested this movie, perhaps along with others, so thank you for posting!
One of my favs.
great movie….sexy woman…..top director – abel ferrara!
thank you very much!
Classic, highly recommended. Zoe Lund and Abel Ferrara would go on to collaborate again on the masterwork Bad Lieutenant.
The difference between an epic film and an over-blown home movie is detail. Ms .45 is using a Star Model BM…. which is a 9mm. Yeah… I know… I know…. is only a movie. And I DID enjoy it, but details matter. Especially to someone as anal as I am.
My personal thanks to the crew at E.U.M……. great effing job! I love you all and I want to have your children.
Same movie as Thriller: A Cruel Picture (1973) but I like this one much much better
hehe badass women make brain go brrr
yaaaahhhhh the doggie survived at the end (: wholesome bruh moment
Hideously stupid, Thx God we don’t live in that era anymore. Movie industry has made some real progress since then.
Excellent, grimy film. Thana’s (from Thanatos, I presume) initially-justified vengeance becomes an all-encompassing desire to destroy every perceived male threat. Her final spoken word signifies the shock she experienced in the shattering of the illusion she held that women en masse were symbolically behind her in her effort to rid the world of male pigs. It’s a final realization, perhaps, that the seed of truth which gave rise to her feelings has been overtaken by delusions.
There are no heroes here, just psychology, actions, motivations. The cinematography is just fantastic too. 10/10 for me, especially considering when it came out.
I’m disappointed that the nosy wench of a neighbor and her annoying dog didn’t get blasted, but I suppose that wouldn’t have been on brand for Thana.
That trumpet slaps
absolutely love this movie! not perfect by any stretch, but I just love it!
My fav work of Ferrera’s. Thana’s my hero.
beautiful women. but needed more nudity and violence.
