The second TV movie here based on Gary Ridgway, The Green River Killer, alongside The Capture of the Green River Killer.
The Riverman is again from the pov of the cops involved, particularly Robert Keppel, and is more detailed about the consultation with Ted Bundy for the case. This one contrasts Dave Reichert to the more senior Keppel’s experienced calmness and portrays him as a troubled green cop. Eventually though, Bundy gets Keppel exploring corners of his mind that gets him bored of the normies he has back home.
Personally, preferred this one, of the two movies.

Have you ever shown up with a knife to a gunfight? You would think a movie called “The Riverman” would be more about the Green River Killer Gary Ridgeway instead of Ted Bundy but you’d be wrong. That’s not to say it’s a bad movie but I wanted to hear more about Ridgeway than Bundy. If I wanted to watch a TV movie about Ted Bundy I would watch “The Deliberate Stranger” (1986) which has a much more in depth analysis of Bundy.
Anywho, it’s a good TV flick with the hero role swayed towards the guy who’s book the movie was based on, Robert Keppel. Keppel’s claim to fame is that he helped “crack” the Ridgeway and Bundy cases. He was considered to be an expert and made tons of money off of both of these cases, even though there were a total of 90 dead victims between the two of them and he basically didn’t do shit to catch either of them. It reminds me of that creep Terry Turchie who ran the Unabomber task force. Ted Kaczynski eluded the task force for 17 years before his brother dimed him out, then Turchie swooped in at the end to take all the credit for the “great job” he did.
