Stoic (2009)

Option 1Option 2

Directed by: Uwe Boll
Starring: Edward Furlong (Harry Katish), Shaun Sipos (Mitch), Sam Levinson (Peter), Steffen Mennekes (Jack)
Country: Canada
Language: English
Runtime: 01:30:34
Genres: Based on a True Story, Rape-Violence against Men, Torture, Pissing, Puking

Plot – Spoilers:
A prison inmate Mitch hangs himself. His cellmates in a series of interviews talk about the day’s events leading up to his death. It all apparently started with a poker game where Mitch had all the luck. Carried away with his winnings, Mitch proposed that the loser of the next round eat a tube of paste. But when it was him that ended up losing, he backed out, pissing off his cellmates.

As the interviews progress, the guys are forced to confront the truth of what actually happened. Stoic poses an interesting question – were pent up issues behind what happened, or is this a gritty case of how things can escalate when pack-mentality sets in.

Thanks for the new film, much appreciated admins!

Another wholesome Uwe Boll classic, fun for the whole family
    Eat the fuckin toothpaste

Ya know, I was surprised, I wasn’t expecting much esp from any movie by ol Uwe, but this film was tense af. Rampage is still his best film imo, but this one was tense, claustrophobic, n suspenseful. Was realistic in the sense of how things can go from zero to insane rather quickly when ur locked up, plus ppl gangin up on the person w lightest sentence as well.
I should note tho, having been incarcerated myself, their jail cell was a joke: beds that weren’t anchored down, same w a *metal* chair, strongboxes, and table, a toilet w a fucking toilet seat, even the cell door was just a normal door on hinges like at an office, etc lol. The guards didn’t do any rounds whatsoever. Plus you’d never see CO’s w guns in a u.s jail, not even the goon squad has guns, only the real cops in intake bringing folks in, if that. So while unrealistic esp in that sense, and noticable immediately to me, it didn’t really detract from the overall viewing experience, once u got used to it imo. I’d give it a loose 6-7/10, higher if comparing to Uwe’s other works tho. Morale of story to me: don’t go to jail(or don’t get caught n go to jail, also don’t gamble in jail)
Triva: Ed furlong actor in this=John Connor in t2 n the kid in America history x

That is amazing! No one would ever wonder what happened to those child actors unless they progress to the big time, so thanks for the info. In terms of what is real vs what they show in movies, I totally understand the comments. Like racking back a gun to let viewers know a shot will be fired, when in reality a perfectly good round falls to the ground, One shot wasted, So, now to watch the movie.

Uwe Boll movies are the most fucked up of them all, no other movie makes me lose faith in humanity like his, no other filmmaker makes me feel more regret and shame for watching their films, and no other filmmaker fills me with such dread when I see their name come up in the credits.

Postal, Far Cry, Alone in the Dark, BloodRayne, In the Name of the King I feel sick just remembering them.

This was absolutely excruciatingly painful to watch. The rape scene with the broom was ridiculous. What they showed would have punctured him so many times, he’d have been dead soon after. He would have bled to death.

Movies like this is why I came to this site. It was extreme. Difficult to watch. Something that lingers on long after the film has finished. There were several aspects that don’t hold true to an actual jail cell, but set set that aside. I’ve watched a lot of movies on this website and this is the first one I felt compelled to leave a review on. Definitely check it out.
