Plot – Spoilers:
Suicide Club has one of the most spectacular openings to a movie when a line of smiling girls throw themselves in front of an approaching train. The police haven’t a clue, as the body count continues to pile with more and more teenagers killing themselves for no apparent reason. Almost on a whim. Like a fad. Not even having been told to “Kill yourself.”

It starts out intriguing enough but it nose dives in to cornyland and never recovers after introducing us to the flaming blonde fag in the sequins outfit who pulls out his gee-tar and sings us a song. Soon after that we get another corny song from the little kid’s band. It didn’t work for me. 2 stars.
Honestly, this is the type of film that gets you hooked in the first minutes, then loses plot, becomes boring, if you like seeing spoilers, but then you watch the full and, and it leaves a strong impact. Best movies, best movie I’ve watched in years. 10 out of 10, would recommend.
Aint nothing but a goblin thang
the coughing after talking every single time is pissing me off sb
what a shit movie
fuck the singing parts, was fun to watch nonetheless, japanese like jigsaw movies lol
this is sooooooo confusing like what the helll
I was skeptical to see whether a film with such supernatural and–at times–confusing themes could possibly have a well-rounded ending, but i think it was pretty good. I mean yeah questions were still left unanswered, but it didn’t make the movie itself any worse or bad in any way. Somewhat of a fun watch, give it a try.
Why does this bitch cough after every sentence it’s making me want to commit suicide 😂
It was better than I expected, I actually enjoyed it, a captivating movie!
After watching this movie, this makes me want to read the manga
Oddly better than you’re lead on to believe from all the “fucked up movie” conversations. Gore isn’t realistic at all so if you’re looking for high quality stuff this ain’t it lolol. But it’s real interesting and I feel that it being confusing mid movie kind of keeps you captivated. It’s definitely not for everyone but for the people who like the obscure you’ll probably be intrigued.
not enough rape
Definitely fun for the kids. Hiroshima wasn’t for nothing.
Was expecting better gore tbh, still a pretty good movie with an original concept
little-known fact about this movie: it inspired the manga by
Usamaru Furuya of the same names (it also went by suicide circle/jisatsu sakuru/jisatsu sakuru, similarly to the films) which was released a year later in 2002.
great film! i love how japanese horror leaves so many unanswered questions!!
LowTierGod’s favourite movie
So when I was 13 I watched Guinea Pig, the movie was disgusting from start to finish, I first started watching Suicide Club in 2021 (I was 14) I had interrupted it after 20 minutes because I remembered that everything was repeating itself.
Today I decided to finally watch it to the end, so after all these years (realized this back when I was 13) I realized that Japanese people show through movies/series/anime/manga what they would like to do if they could, showing everything their ancestors did during ww2, whether they were born during www2 or not, they’re showing their inner thoughts…because in Japan they consider you crazy if you go crazy (where I live they consider you crazy if you don’t go crazy on a normal day) so anyway I realized that this is (somehow) normal, every director has porn/rape, BRUTAL murders or suicides totally graphically depicted, when you look at Americans “horror/thriller” or “disgusting” you can just laugh it off
Japanese movies are in general weird bc it’s not normal for them to express their “thoughts” (what comes to mind The taste of Tea where nothing happens (which I love)) anyway I quite love Japanese’s cinematography and stories but sometimes (always) I think “What made you write this?” “Who in their right mind WOULD ACT IN THIS?!”
I don’t even know what to say…confusing AF. Made it to the end though and then read the comments which helped.
Still not a fan. The kid band is corny AF. Even if they are subliminally telling their listeners to off themselves, how the fuck would they know how to pick up on the secret code? That’s the part that makes no sense to me because in the lyrics of their music, Dessert only ever offers upbeat themes and messages. Maybe I’ve over analyzed it – idk.
The opening scene was great, I honestly stayed for the cute women peppered throughout – if there hadn’t been any, I would have stopped watching 10-15 min into it.
Give it a shot; may be more appealing to you than I found it.
4/10
EXPLAINED (CONTAINS SPOILERS). To anyone who didn’t understand it: Dessert (the girl children band) send subconscious messages to their audience to commit suicide, in that scene (20 minutes before the ending) we see that girl from the hospital (the one with the butterfly tattoo on the back of her shoulder) that decrypted the hidden in plain sight message, the poster of Dessert girls posing. Their fingers pointed out how many times to press in a mobile phone (the old ones with the buttons like Nokia, before the smartphones) the number which was featured in each girl’s shirt. Doing that creates “suicide” in sms text so this lead to their audience (and that explains why they were only young people who killed themselves like children or teenagers) to follow this subconsious command. The goth-alike Suicide Club (the one with the adults who kidnapped the two girls from their home while they were watching the bizarre website and writting on the BBS board) weren’t the real perpetrators (maybe copycats who tried to distract the investigations of the police from the Dessert band) and the only reason they let themselves be arrested was so police would stop chasing the mastermind behind all of this suicide fad. My estimation is that the deeper reason why the members of the Dessert band (and their believers who were featured on the theatre scene in the ending scene) did this because they were neglected by their parents, we all know how Japan’s culture is so absolute and… Read more »
Man I wish I could finally kill myself :/
Leaves you with the feeling of “What the fuck did I just watch?”
Exactly what we come here for!
It’s weird and doesn’t always make sense, but every moment is gripping and confusing.
What? Is this some .. ihave no idea what 5he last part of the film was about.. from the blond guy singing to the kids at the stage. Weird film.
why does the dude say moshi moshi even though he’s not speaking on the phone
Tbh, I was getting bored throughout the film, then when genesis came onto the screen with his group I was initially intrigued, especially when he expressed his delusions of grandeur (I can relate), but when he gets caught and is pretty much exposed as a poser to us I was disappointed , initially I did think dessert was fishy from the get go, but the pay off was weak. I guess this is based of a manga. It would’ve been better if the genesis had bigger part in it. It would’ve been more entertaining to see him and his gang kill and draw out more of their sadistic hijinks imo.
im going to go watch spideman across the spideverse
sounds like a pretty sick ass club to me
these gooks can barley see and they walkin off buildings n shi
It is astounding how emotional some people get over an opinion on a movie lol
It was great I just wish it didn’t copy the Evangelion congratulations scene wholesale.
i really like this movie.
suicide club
Trust the stupid Americans in the comments to not understand what is going on. Fucking morons
fuck me japane
Ah, Sion sono…….by looking at his picture in IMDB you can tell this dude is sick genius. My favorite work is guilty of romance in which he portraits the collapse of his society’s values in a nice way.
Sad movie
legendary
Oh I see now it s Siono. ..Knda fitting actually: Very good.. then pretty bad and too nonsensically random. There s a very “professional amateurialness” in the style of Siono’s cinema that is quite charming and endearing, but that (real shame) ends up often in an insubstantial shallownes that reveals a heavy poverty of real genius and brilliance at the foundation. Still, not too bad until the feeble connections holdin it together, that at first result even ineteresting in some way, start falling apart and turn into a mere emptiness of sort… For the opening (and not much more) I would have to raccomand it. I remember I liked Llove Exposure very much (i have a bit of a thing for cults and that kind of stuff) it was the first of his movies I saw tho and I m afraid I ll realize it has the same characteristic at a second watch . I go random too tho now, Anybody s seen liverleaf? That was heavy hard.. and personally I wouldn’t have pushed it that far but…. if we talk disturbing !! I think it s Eisuke Naito’s, possibly hard to find (I didn’t check on this site. ) And same director, from manga, odd really for me but I loved one called something with leichi in the title, or similar , the fruit anyhow. …Very peculiar and… well I d say one of those things that are not for many, but pushy in some unexpected ways and pretty… Read more »
suicide club, the club i would joined in highshool
The manga is waaay better than this.
I thought it was ok. Great to be able to tick it off the list. Interesting but strange.
This reminds me of that movie “Kairo”
awful movie no cap
Today I watched Suicide Club
g ood
great concept but painfully mediocre execution. though i guess i’m incredibly grateful since without the underdeveloped plot we wouldn’t have noriko’s dinner table.
poorly explained, not really well developed
Very intriguing and atmospheric until the introduction of the goofy glam gang. That, and everything after, was so fucking stupid and nonsensical.
it’s an okay movie, but the sequel Noriko’s Dinner Table is definitely better
