Plot – Spoilers:
Based on the Eight Immortals Restaurant murders in Macau, China with some urban legends thrown in.
Wong is a compulsive Mahjong gambler with a violent temper and isn’t above cheating at the game or murdering anyone who owes him money or gives him shit. He murders the owner of the restaurant he works at, and takes over running the place. To brighten things up, he adds human meat buns to the menu before the clumsy police get on his trail.
If there’s one thing to be learnt from this notorious ’80s incident, it’s that a restaurant makes the perfect setting for a serial killer who wouldn’t need to explain stray meat lying around or bloodstains.
This is in mandarin, not cantonese
This movie isn’t bad but it’s not good either.
Excellent comedy/horror! The first time I’ve actually read most of the subtitles in an Asian movie and most of the dialogue was hilarious!
I’m very curious.. Why do some of the signs have Spanish words?
An early Anthony Wong film who went on to be a high profile Hong Kong actor in some classic action films – and is in Vengeance which is also on this (EUMs) site. Untold Story in addition to gore has comedic elements that seem staple in many Hong Kong horror/violent films. It’s a good solid little film, and as it includes Anthony Wong I score it 4/5 BBQ steam buns
really great movie! thoroughly enjoyed it.
TUS actually had a good storyline as it was based on true story, however, it has too many filler scenes. Also, I was actually expecting a cold-blooded indifferent killer since he had the nerve to cook human flesh and even serve it on a fucking restaurant. It’s just sad that both the movie and real story got a shitty ending.
literally everyone in this movie is an asshole except that one inmate.
i thought something bad is gonna happen to him at the end since he was so nice but nothing did…
the ending felt like a huge cliffhanger. the dude just killed himself and it just ended no celebration or disappointment at the end 0 character development.
but at least it’s based on a true story, so, good story i guess.
This movie’s a masterpiece
Wowwwww
Totally missed this is all my years of cinema watching.. what a excellent piece of work … It’s brutal as hell and yes.. cheesy and daft in parts. . . But Christ on a bike…. Truly excellent.. fast paced… Funny. And truly bloody.
That´s so wrong Mister Wong!
My man Anthony! This was the role of his life. He must have played this type of character at least a dozen times. Every time he fleshed it out al little bit more and then peaked as KAI in EBOLA SYNDROM.
It doesn´t get any sleazier than this!
The police are no better than the killer Lol
if the first scene being in 15 fps puts you off, don’t worry, the whole movie isn’t like that
This Hong Kong film definitely lives up to the expectation of fucked up. It had a combo of extreme violence with humor sprinkled in. A demented chef is interrogated by some irritating police officers about the disappearance of the family who owned the Eight Immortals Restaurant. There are scenes that some viewers will find distressing with explicit violence. The main actor played an excellent role in this I have to say. The police officers were super annoying with shitty acting though lol. With plenty of brutal scenes, this is a solid film to get your fucked up movie fix!
Tapped out after about 20 minutes. Effed up in all the wrong ways.
now i know where de niro got his inspiration to bite off the cheek in cape fear
Saw this on YT awhile back but I am sure it was a much shorter version, most probably censored. From what I saw, it was pretty full on with the gore, but will watch this to see what was missing. There is also a part 2 and 3 but have not seen those.
