Borderland is loosely based on Adolfo de Jesús Constanzo, cult leader and wannabe druglord from the ’80s.
In a border-town of Mexico, police turn a blind eye to ritualistic killings by a self-styled drug cult. The cult leader believes his human and animal sacrifices have rendered his drugs invisible to the border police.
Meanwhile, three Americans who’re about to head off to college arrive in Mexico looking for a good time. And a good time is exactly what they get.
It’s Shawn Hunter. Where is BF Cory Mathews and Mr. Feeny? You know from the tv show Boy Meets World? I grew up watching that him on that show.
At least we had some survivors with all the cult leaders disposed.

TERRIFIC! Good story, gripping and gory, and some beautiful sexy women!
I read the book about these guys decades ago. As I recall they were more brutal and crazy then what’s depicted here. This turns into a formulaic bad guy chase, get there in the nick of time (which they don’t manage to do) sort of thing. They got the part about “feeding the Nganga” right enough, and the references to Black Santeria are there too. What they miss is fuller elaboration on the insane rationales of the cult leader and the sordidness of his actual motives, and the actual extent of what was done to victims to feed the Nganga, the foul smelling pot used at the center of his “magic.” Still and all, this was a decent watch for me until the end, where it became ludicrous.
There are a lot of way better flicks here, but if you don’t know the actual story, this may satisfy you. Read the book about Adolfo Constanzo and his followers to see how crazy the situation actually was.
As a horror film, its action scenes are good.

I am American and i agree with the European, the movie at the end was lame.
Firstly, what is up with the final cut over saturated digital colors? Whoever edited this was insane. I see the purpose of the grittiness by using hard contrast but the over saturation was overboard. Secondly, the sound guy was smoking weed because in one part I heard literally 6 beeps from a car outside. Someone kept beeping. Like really loudly.I guess they felt that didn’t deserve a second take? Wtf. Who does that? Terrible sound person. Finally, the end. Ok the gore was really well done. Hats off to the makeup and special effects people. They were honestly the best part of this film. Unfortunately the writers wanted to make it a hero movie. Then again, it was made in 2007. I guess the hero trope was still alive and well in horror films back then. I hate movies like this. It’s true and I admit it, it’s mainly an American Hollywood style film in that sense. One guy + one girl save the world. Yawn. They could have broken huge ground by sticking to a better story. I do like most of the story line in the middle but they killed it with that ending. Otherwise good film. 3/5 black hearts.
Just found out this film existed, pretty interesting that they made a film based off this horrible dude and his crimes that was close to the place where I live

Utter trash. I expected torture porn based on real events, instead I got another ‘American goes full Rambo and saves the day’ film. Where was all the rape and torture? The wire through the spine stuff? You know, the stuff that really happened? Don’t waste your time with this.

Very much along the lines of Hostel, Cabin Fever, Saw, etc. V good in that respect. Esp if you’re like me and love anything Santeria/mexican cartel related.
