Maximum Shame begins with a couple in bed indulging in mathematical foreplay. Then the guys slides down a rabbit hole limbo between reality and fantasy where he encounters a (chess) Queen, who stumbles around on roller skates while controlling his fantasy and convincing herself it’s all a game of chess. The wife/girlfriend soon joins his fantasy and we go into ception-like layers. It all doesn’t make sense after a while, but considering the extremely low budget, Maximum Shame is a bunch of very entertaining scenes stuck together. Or maybe as the ending suggests, it’s just the simple rambling delusions of a pregnant woman.
There really isn’t any gore, but it’s been slotted in the category for a nice scene of a room full of fetuses.
It’s a mediocre film, kind of generic, kind of boring, but it illustrates reasonably well what the mind of a very sick person is like; it has too much coherence, however. About the film being bizarre, in fact, it’s not that much, much more bizarre and cruel things happen in the real world, that’s why it should end for good. 4/10
I’m not sure I “got” it but
jewish director?

That was by far the oddest movie I have ever seen. I’m not sure I “got” it but I couldn’t turn away.
Well that settles it, I no longer want to live. This is what happens when you let mentally retarded people in a psych ward make a movie.
Interesting, but the title and cover photograph for this movie are somewhat misleading.
They are comparing human “delusional” thought patterns to a living chess board where the pieces (are alive and) realize that there are just so many possible moves.
The bishop who becomes a queen should’ve instead been a pawn that got promoted! Other than that, I loved it. Marina Gatell is 10/10 :$..
Possible interpretations for those that care:
The Queen of Catalan love is someone eating food while leisurely playing chess being compared to a deity that can perform a miracle like dropping spaghetti on the board.
The bishop is in chains because her movement is restricted significantly compared to the Queen and the Queen behaves accordingly.
Knights have tricky move patterns and are compared to a quirky artist with outlandish ideas.
This movie is boring and really dumb and annoying as hell. It’s not even disturbing at all.
This is literally the worst fucking movie i have EVER fucking watchec
