Plot – Spoilers:
In a gloomy South Korean city, Lee Kang-do works for Happy Private Loans, recovering the ridiculous interest they charge from low-income workers who were desperate enough to borrow from them. Kang-do is merciless as a collector and often maims his victims to collect the insurance.
A woman starts following him around, claiming to be his mother who’d dumped him soon after birth. Kang-do torments her but she refuses to leave, enduring the humiliation as part of her penance. He eventually relents after the lady passes the best possible test to confirm if a random woman is your mother – rape the woman, and if she’s willing to suffer it, she must be your mother.
Pieta has more of these little Kim Ki-duk oddities, though it isn’t as manic as Moebius.
